Community + Food + Forest

With a push within the Darebin Environmental Community for a Food Forest to complement the Northcote Library Food Garden, interested locals and others are invited to join a discussion and site visit to plan for an approach to Council.

Time: 2.30pm for registration and tour for 3pm to start

Where: Northcote Library Food garden, 32-38 Separation St, Northcote.

Duration :  1 ½ hours. Afternoon tea provided.

There will be lots of events on the day, including several speakers. I’ll be presenting the session “My Backyard Food Forest” in the Sustainable Living (SL) Village area, where there will be lots of other speakers too, see below:

 

SUSTAINABLE LIVING VILLAGE

Visit the Sustainable Living Village and learn how to create a better, cleaner, greener world. Information, giveaways and presentations in the Speakers Corner. We’re bringing you a food swap from 11-1pm so bring all the lovely excess garden surplus such as fruit, vegetables, seeds, gardening tips and stories.

11:00am – Food Swap

2:00pm – “My Waste Free Month” with Kathy Brunning

2:30pm - “My Energy Efficient Home” with Jeremy Critchett

3:00pm – “My Backyard Food Forest” with Angelo Eliades

3:30pm – Sustainable Gardening – Made Easy and Fun

Sustainable Living Festival 2012 – Urban Permaculture In Action – Sunday 12th February 2012

We’ll be taking part in the Sustainable Living Festival this year, and we’ll be running a local event workshop:

Urban Permaculture in Action

Learn how to design and build an urban backyard food forest. See how a conventional backyard was transformed three years ago into a productive, biodiverse urban food forest using Permaculture Principles – with more than 30 fruit trees, berries, annuals & perennials, companion plants & many others!

Date : Sunday 12 February 2012

Sessions : 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm or 3:00pm – 4:00pm
