Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni)

Queensland fruit fly is one of the most damaging pests of fruit, vegetables and berries in Australian gardens, affecting Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, and Victoria.

In this workshop you will learn about the best ways to control this pest, how to achieve the best control outcomes using a strategic integrated pest management (IPM) approach, which products to use, as well as when and how to use them.

You will also learn how to make your own traps and attractant baits that only take a few minutes to prepare, and cost next to nothing! Queensland fruit fly control doesn’t have to be expensive.

Now is the time to get all your control measures ready before the emergence of Queensland fruit fly in spring! In this comprehensive workshop you’ll learn everything you need to know to effectively control and eradicate this destructive pest, so you can enjoy the produce from your garden this summer.

Participants will be provided with detailed handouts/notes for the workshop.

There will be a 15-minute questions & answers session at the end of the workshop. Participants are also encouraged to ask questions that are on-topic during the workshop to create a more interactive learning environment.

What makes us different, apart from our ecological approach to gardening, is the way we teach. We not only explain how to do things, but we also explain why, because adults learn better when they know the reasons they’re doing what they’re doing!
