When: Thursday, 4 August 2022 7:00 – 9:30 PM AEST

Learn how to grow tasty and nutritious vegetables all year round, without harmful chemicals, in whatever space you have!

In this comprehensive, yet easy-to-follow organic gardening workshop for beginners, you’ll learn everything you need to know to confidently grow your own vegies at home.

No matter what space you have, whether it’s a large or small backyard, courtyard or balcony, in garden beds, pots or containers, we can show you how to grow vegetables using ecological principles, working with nature, doing less work for maximum yields.

Whether you’re just getting started or have some experience and wish to learn more, this workshop is suitable for gardeners of all skill levels.

Topics covered in this workshop include:

  • Selecting a location for a food garden
  • Setting up new garden beds
  • Preparing, improving and feeding the soil for growing food
  • Sowing seeds and planting seedlings at the right time of the year
  • Growing from seedlings and seeds
  • Looking after a garden bed throughout the growing season
  • Crop rotation of vegetables in garden beds
  • Growing vegetables in pots and containers

Participants will be provided with detailed handouts/notes for the workshop.

There will be a 15-minute questions & answers session at the end of the workshop. Participants are also encouraged to ask questions that are on-topic during the workshop to create a more interactive learning environment.

What makes us different, apart from our ecological approach to gardening, is the way we teach. We not only explain how to do things, but we also explain why, because adults learn better when they know the reasons they’re doing what they’re doing!
